Collections Associate
Basic Function:
To support the Collection Department collect on delinquent accounts primarily through making effective collection calls.
Major Duties / Responsibilities:
- Telephone Calls
- Make outbound calls to delinquent cardholders
- Handle incoming calls from delinquent cardholders
- Communicate with banks, debt counselors, and others on cardholder delinquent accounts
- Clearly annotate account records as to the disposition of the telephone contacts or other key data that will assist in future collection activity.
- Skip Tracing
- Use tool available to collectors (Fast Data, Credit Bureau, etc) in attempts to locate cardholders
- Review and process incoming correspondence pertaining to assigned accounts
- Encourage the use of payment by phone and process these requests
- Assist other collectors or other credit card areas as needed
- Perform other duties as associated with the Collection Associate function, as assigned by management.
Requirements / Desired Qualifications:
- Must be able to work two evenings per week and two Saturdays (8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) per month. Friday work schedules are 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Overtime as needed.
- Minimum of one year of collection experience in a credit card or retail environment.
- Strong computer skills, familiar with the Word, and proficient in Outlook or similar product (like Lotus).
- Familiarity with the First Data (FDR) collection system a plus.
- Some college preferred.
- Good interpersonal skills with emphasis on verbal communications.
- Regular and punctual attendance is required
- Individual should possess good interpersonal skills.
- Individual should be able to work within a team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish.
